The word ‘Gurbani’ is a Sikh term which purely means the ‘Words of Guru’ inscripted as divine teachings in Shri Guru Granth Sahibji or Adi Granth (sacred textbook of Sikhism).
Guru in Sankrit Means – ‘Gu’ (Darkness), ‘Ru’ (Light). Spiritual Master who share Knowledge (light) & destroys Ignorance (Darkness).
Gurbani focus and enlightens right course in knowing GOD and His wonderful creation. The importance here is to unconditionally surrender oneself to Guru and follows His teachings lifelong. Gurbani reveals some harsh truth about our existence and purpose on this earth, which we all have ignored or not aware of. One who follows Guru and His teaching is one out of millions, and that one person knows exactly about His creation (rest we all have our own imagination & explanation).
Gurbani basically (in crux) is teaching from all 10 Sikh Gurus from period 1469 to 1666. And explained in the form of Shabad Kirtan, which is sung by Kirtani or Raagees.
